Does a bailout of GM guarantee that they’ll actually start making products that Americans will dream about buying again? The one string (rope) that I would like to see attached to a GM bailout is a “2 brand restriction”. In order to receive a government bailout GM gets to operate and market two brands and that’s it. No more Buick, no more Saturn; just two brands like say Chevy and Cadillac. I think the reason why GM is in it’s current pickle isn’t entirely because of the unions or the high gas prices of 6 six months ago, it’s because of a complete lack of product focus. Restrict GM to two brands and prescribe some corporate Ritalin.
